Mindfulness Based Art and Stress Reduction Course

This course provides 14 AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credits, 14 CE credits with the ANCC

Powered by CMEfy - a seamless way for busy clinician learners to discover Internet Point-of-Care Learning opportunities that reward CME credits & more. Learn more at about.cmefy.com/cme-info

This activity helps address certain relevant blindspots within the clinicians’ clinical, administrative and personal day-to-day practice, while learning how reflective practice can be applied to themselves and their peers. This is accomplished via an awareness engine that surfaces nudges at the right place and right time for clinicians to engage and reflect. The clinician is prompted to reflect upon how the surfaced content within the nudge applies to their day-to-day. This reflection is captured in their learning journal allowing to serve as serving as both a reference for the learner and a nudge to share with their team.

Please confirm that your accreditation board accepts CMEFy as a form of credit before signing up as some specialties may have different restrictions and not have reciprocity.

This course is designed to help psychologists, social workers and mental health workers  improve self-awareness and learn skills in managing stress. We will identify the signs and symptoms of burnout and acknowledge ways we can improve our personal well-being. We will explore goals of self-compassion, creativity, productivity, self-advocacy, and empathy. These skills will be applicable for use with self-care when applying to one's self as well as helpful to share with patients in day to care as they struggle with stress and anxiety as well.

Course Details

The program will be broken into 4 or 8 block sessions. Each session will include one to two modules of instruction followed by practice/exercise (i.e. meditation, body scan, progressive muscle relaxation, guided imagery, mindfulness through ceramic design, etc.).

Each session will include some form of ceramic design experience that will improve the mastery of mindfulness through visual, tactile and postural and in-the-moment awareness. Post-exercise discussion of the experience will occur.

This interactive exploratory group methodology will allow for improved cohesion and support among the participants and the building of community that you can take with you to create in other aspects of your life and profession.

Testimonials

Nancy Behrens, MD. “I’ve really enjoyed Dr. Schacter’s program for women physicians.  While we’re often told that we should take measures to prevent burn out, it is rare to find an opportunity that meaningfully addresses well-being and provides community for physicians. This program does just that.”

Lauren Piper, MD. “As a pediatric critical care physician and mother in the midst of a pandemic, like so many other professionals, I too was in need of self-care and an opportunity to learn more about mindfulness and opportunities to reduce and manage my stress. Setting aside time for self care after taking care of so many at work and a family at home is tough, and I found Randie’s course both very enjoyable and helpful use of my time.  I enjoyed her wonderful food & recipes, making friends with others, trying pottery for the first time, and practicing new mindfulness techniques. Overall highly recommend.”

Mia Yang, MD. “I highly recommend anything organized by Randie. Her pottery lessons are fun and can be a meditative practice. Her cooking is delicious. And she is an authentic community-builder, physician-mom, ready to infuse some joy into your life!”
